Bull Market? Bear Market? Doesn’t Matter.
I find the obsession with whether or not we are in a bull or bear market a complete waste of energy. We all have to operate in the environment that we are in. If you approach investing/trading with a well thought out strategy, it should matter what type of market it is, you should continue to follow your strategy regardless.
For example, let’s say your strategy is to buy momentum/leaders and ride them as long as you can until they stop being leaders by whatever measure you choose. In a bull market, you are going to find a ton of stocks with great momemtum to buy. If and when the mood sours, you will get taken out of positions as the leader fall out of bed. There won’t be many stocks with momentum in a bear market, so you will be forced to do less as almost no stocks will meet your entry criteria.
The point is, develop a strategy that fits your goals and stick to the strategy regards of type of market we may be in at the moment.
